Wondering how many people have Dairy comp and how they like it.

DC 305 is an excellent record keeping program. It is very flexible and gives you unlimited report capabilty. However, it is not menu driven, such as, PCDart, so it takes a little while to get use to it. Also, there is an upfront cost to buy the program and then if you choose to get the updates and support there is an annual fee. I am glad I made the switch and will not be leaving soon.

The flexibility of Dairy Comp is unmatched. That said, it has some warts but nothing too major. I've been working with Dairy Comp practically since I was in diapers (honestly, I must've been 6 or 7 years old when my dad got it) so I couldn't imagine using something different.

Dairy Comp is due for a complete rewrite at some point. I'm not sure how Alta Genetics owning a large part of it will affect things.

How expensive is this program? Are there any monthly fees as well or hidden costs?

I'll bet in canada we pay more for it. We pay $4250 for the program and $540 per year on technicail support and upgrades plus a $50 fee for DHI downloads. These support fees are mandatory with program purchase.

I was thinking it was around $3000, but it has been 3 years and alot of water under the bridge since then. The technical support and updates are optional, but encouraged. In reality, you will want the support on the front since you will have a LOT of questions and they have an excellent support staff. However, you can get started with less than Dairy Comp 305 until you get really going.
