    Default Boer Goats

While Faye Farms has been acquiring Hereford hogs, I've been acquiring fullblood reg. South African boer goats. A woman in a nearby community is retiring and downsizing her herd. Have gotten 5 and am picking up another one in a few days. Love small town decency. I'd never been able to afford these goats at some long-winded, conceited breeder. Had gotten out of my dairy goat herd when a coop formed for the southeast. Now I have a quality herd and a market

What a nice thing to say

BTW, soon time to AI Oinky and her clan. Whadya think: Duroc, Yorkshire, or whatever is left at the end of the day? Seems like maybe day's surplus would be nice price for piglets destined for homestead food raising.

Overrun Semen of Duroc or Hamp would get my vote. The Yorks are excellent Maternal characteristics, but less of a foraging rutting hog, less able to do well in simple outdoor settings. Also Yorks more sunburn risk in your Tropical climate?, LOL.

Hadn't considered the Hamp... Oinky is a blue butt so she has Hamp in her now. Wonder if that wouldn't be best. I like the York for carcass over the overs.
