    Default Reduced our SCC.

We reduced our cell count 40% just by switching teat dips, both pre & post, consistent now for 3 months.

Care to share what you switched from and to? 40% seems substantial enough for details.

By the way, congrats for trying new products to improve your count. Seems like some producers just accept what they have because that's the way it is........ Not just dairy guys, livestock in general. I admire producers that don't get complacent.

40% just with a change in teat dip? Sounds like a huge change for using a different product.
I met a bloke the other day who's auto teat sprayer stopped working and to see how things would go, he didn't fix it. He said it's been 3-4 months now and his cell count is still sitting around 100k. He reckons the dry year is helping.

    We switched to Valiant.

We tried about everything to lower cell count, we did try peroxide and it did nothing for us.

I tried valiant when it first came out, I believe through ABS.

Didn't make any difference here, It was insanely expensive tho....

We have been low the past four months. Had our first case of mastitis case this morning for the first time in a month or two. A fair autumn and early winter is probably the reason.

We tried valiant before as well, with no results. I don't know if this is a different valiant? It's not as expensive, and it's not from ABS. I'll have to look at the label.

Ok we didn't buy it from ABS but it's an ABS product.

Lactic acid & heptanoic acid are the active ingredients in post dip. The predip is lactic acid & linear dodacyl benzene sulfuric acid.

    what's your cel count?
40% is a lot but depends on your SCC i guess
i feel going from 300 to 180 is more impressive (in terms of $) than going from 80 to 48scc
was the drop suddenly or could other factors play a role too?

Cousinit are you still using the Valiant for post dip? Are you using a pre dip?

Cell count was in the 300's, now in the low 200's sometimes. Had a (few) changes in employees too. Since I originally posted this thread, we kept the Valiant pre-dip but switched to Ocean Blue post dip because it was alot cheaper. Our cell count remained in the mid 250's to 300 which is ok with us. We don't cull for cell count.
