Thread: How much for molasses

    Default How much for molasses

Hello, how much are we supposed to pay for liquid molasses? I live in Tennessee. I got a quote for a 275 gallon tote for $1200 delivered. Is that reasonable?

We get 3000 gallons at a time with urea for extra degradable protein and it cost us about a $1/gallon. That is conventional not organic.

I'm in Pennsylvania and am paying $.37 a pound for organic molasses delivered via tank truck on a monthly route. I did get a one ton tote (275 gal) full of molasses for $993.20 delivered in August. It likely depends on the amount of travel. We've been feeding 2.5 to 3 pounds a cow per day and have found it greatly reduces the chance of acidosis since our cows are experts at sorting TMR.

We buy conventional molasses, also spiked with urea. A 5000 gal load costs 210 a ton. Alot will depend on hauling distance and if you have your own tank and equipment. If whey is available
nearby it will probably be a better feed buy and have some of the same benefits. We do feed both still though.
