Default Europe stock pile of SMP

Keep reading about the huge stockpile of commodity they have over there and no one really knows what to do with it all . Amazing what has happened with butter though . It's not that long ago that butter was a dirty word .

Doesn't that powder have an expiration date? I wish it would go bad.

Sure, it has an expiration date....for human consumption. But past that date it can still be used as calf milk replacer. With a mountain (1/3 of total US national production) available for calf replacer on the international market, all other storages and production of DMP are forced into human use. The effect being the same.....burdensome supply of DMP all around!

The longer they can stock pile it the less impact it will have on the market they say . Although this report is about a year old http://www.weeklytimesnow.com.au/agr...471eebb99e378c

It was only just a few years ago that SMP was a key driver of our milk price and butter was just a cheap co product . Investment at factory level is more into specialty cheese lines especially and also other value adds that customers in SE Asia and also domestically want .

I suppose the rising middle class in China have a lot todo with it . That's where the demand is .

As far as dealing with a huge stock pile of commodity goes I don't know what the answer is . Apart from giving it away or what ever .

Feed it to hogs-makes excellent meat and they eat less corn- good for dairymen in two ways .
